Sheriff Kevin Sproul began his law enforcement career with the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office on September 8, 1982. He served in nearly every division of the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Sproul worked with children and teenagers in Southwest Georgia teaching character education programs to over 16,300 students in the Dougherty County School System. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Social Work and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. He also has a Master Level 5 Gang Expert Certificate from the National Gang Crime Research Center in Chicago, Illinois. Sheriff Sproul is a member of Georgia Gang Investigators Association (G.G.I.A.) and has served on the G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) National Training Team.
As Sheriff, he has worked to improve the efficiency of his agency and the safety and security of the citizens in his community. Even during incredibly challenging economic times, he has found ways to improve the level of service that his office provides. His leadership has been recognized by many and counted on by all.
